Football Recap: Spearman Skates Past Shamrock with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spearman). They blew past the Shamrock Irish 68-14 on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Lynx with their most commanding win of the season.

Spearman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gael Perez, who rushed for 80 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Another rusher making a difference was Hudson Swan, who gained 82 total yards and a touchdown.

Although Shamrock took the loss, they still got scores from Cross Stambaugh and Jaxon Smith.

The win was the third in a row for Spearman, bringing their record up to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. As for Shamrock, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. After each having a week off, Spearman and Sunray will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Lynx will be up against the Bobcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.4 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Shamrock, they will take on Memphis at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The game will give the Irish their first taste of in-conference action this season.
