Football Recap: Triton Skates Past Winamac with Ease

Triton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-6 victory over the Winamac Warriors. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by 29 points or more this season.

Triton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gage Riffle, who threw for 73 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 37 yards.

Riffle was just one part of a punishing run game: Triton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 174 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Triton's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Winamac, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Triton is set to square off against their familiar foe North Judson-San Pierre at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Trojans 8.4, the Bluejays 14.8) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Winamac will challenge rival North Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
