Basketball Recap: Wood River Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wood River came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 54-49 W against the Ord Chanticleers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-56 last Tuesday.

Several Chanticleers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Landon Critel, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 19 points. The dominant performance gave Critel a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Pollard, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Wood River's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Ord, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Wood River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-56 loss against Doniphan-Trumbull on the 8th. As for Ord, they have also already played their next game, a 67-45 defeat against Central City on the 8th.
