Basketball Recap: Jariyah Sowell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Buford

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 51-39 to the Buford Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-34 back in January.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jariyah Sowell, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance gave Sowell a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tashia Quick, who scored 13 points and three steals.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Buford, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 82-21 defeat against Andrew Jackson on the 10th. Buford has also already played their next game (against York Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
