Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Royal Victorious

The IMG Academy Royal Ascenders beat the Hardee Wildcats 7-2 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ascenders.

IMG Academy Royal got a great performance from Zach Brauer as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Brauer a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jaxson Vassallo was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanta Miyabe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

IMG Academy Royal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

IMG Academy Royal's record is now 13-5. As for Hardee, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IMG Academy Royal will challenge Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ascenders are facing the Golden Eagles at the right time seeing as the Golden Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hardee, they will face off against Avon Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.7, the Red Devils 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
