Basketball Recap: Valley Drops Season-High Score on Beauregard

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley). They came out on top against the Beauregard Hornets by a score of 78-69 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Rams brought their scoring average up to 51.7 points per game.

Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Weaver led the charge by dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Weaver has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zan Woody, who went 8 of 16 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The win was the third in a row for Valley, bringing their record for this year to 5-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-11 Beauregard and 2-10 Beauregard (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.3% over those games). As for Beauregard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

Valley will venture away from home to face off against Elmore County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Beauregard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loachapoka at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
