Wausa is 8-2 against Niobrara/Verdigre since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Vikings will take on the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Niobrara/Verdigre took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Wausa, who comes in off a win.

Wausa took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Hartington-Newcastle by a score of 3-1. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

While Wausa might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Hartington-Newcastle scored at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 24-26, 27-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Niobrara/Verdigre was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Boyd County. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 25-20 in the first set.

Niobrara/Verdigre started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-16, 25-18.

Wausa's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Wausa couldn't quite get it done against Niobrara/Verdigre in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
