Softball Recap: Bacon Academy Comes Up Short

Bacon Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to the RHAM Raptors. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raptors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Riley Stolzman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Emma Pense made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabriella Russo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Bacon Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for RHAM, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4.

Coming up, Bacon Academy will take on St. Bernard at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for RHAM, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-2 loss against Enfield on the 1st.
