Baseball Recap: Unicoi County Gets the Win

Unicoi County's tournament run continued when they took on Northeast on Saturday. The Unicoi County Blue Devils walked away with a 4-1 win over the Northeast Eagles.

Guycen Jones looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dustin Bogart, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Harris, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Unicoi County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast only posted a batting average of .095.

Unicoi County's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Northeast, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Unicoi County will challenge David Crockett at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Unicoi County's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while David Crockett has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Northeast, they will square off against Clarksville at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Clarksville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
