Preview: Livingston Wolves vs. Ripon Indians
Livingston is 1-9 against Ripon since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Livingston Wolves' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Ripon Indians at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Livingston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 986th, while Ripon is ranked 331st).
Last Thursday, Livingston didn't have too much trouble with Hilmar on the road as they won 69-52. The win was just what Livingston needed coming off of a 83-46 loss in their prior contest.
Livingston found their leader in underclassman Adrian Aguirre, who scored 28 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Theodore, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Ripon unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 72-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ripon Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Ripon's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Baur, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Logan Lefebvre who scored 14 points. Landon Gillespie was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Livingston's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Ripon, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's match: Livingston have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.5 threes per game. It's a different story for Ripon, though, as they've been averaging only 5.2 threes per game. Given Livingston's sizeable advantage in that area, Ripon will need to find a way to close that gap.
Livingston came up short against Ripon in their previous matchup on January 3rd, falling 67-54. Can Livingston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
