Basketball Recap: Satellite Comes Up Short

Satellite was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palm Bay Pirates. The Scorpions lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 76-47 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Satellite lost, don't look at K'Dnce Cataldo. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 17 en route to 31 points. That was a full 56.4% of Satellite's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Mcphilamy, who scored five points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Elijah Buffong was nothing short of spectacular for Palm Bay: he went 9 for 15 on his way to 23 points along with seven assists and five steals. Buffong has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Deuel ?Junior? Fider, who had seven points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Satellite's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Palm Bay, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-11.

Satellite didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-68 win against Merritt Island on the 30th. As for Palm Bay, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-55 defeat against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on the 29th.
