Softball Game Preview: Independence Eagles vs. Ravenwood Raptors

The Independence Eagles will square off against the Ravenwood Raptors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Independence made easy work of Centennial and carried off a 14-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Brylie Waechter spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Reagan Maxon was a standout: she scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kerrigan Riebe, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Independence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.4.

Meanwhile, Ravenwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Brentwood, falling 9-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Ravenwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annabelle Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Lola Pierce was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Ravenwood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Independence, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
