Niles West hadn't done well against Vernon Hills recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wolves skirted past the Cougars 2-1. For the Wolves, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Niles West had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-21, 25-16.

The victory made it two in a row for Niles West and bumps their season record up to 15-5. As for Vernon Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Niles West will head out to take on Oak Park-River Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vernon Hills, they will venture away from home to challenge Wheeling at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
