Volleyball Recap: Wheeling Wildcats vs. Saint Viator Lions

It was a proper cat-fight when Wheeling took on Saint Viator on Wednesday. The Wheeling Wildcats took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saint Viator Lions. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Wheeling may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored 14 points in every single set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Saint Viator to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabella Botero, who had five digs and 12 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Drake, who had six digs and three aces.

Wheeling has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Saint Viator, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeling will head out to challenge Regina Dominican at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saint Viator, they will venture away from home to square off against Elmwood Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
