League recap: University Christian extends winning streak with victory over Florida A&M

2A District 2 recap November 19, 2013

University Christian added to the longest winning streak in 2A District 2 this week by beating Florida A&M, 34-12. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.

Harvest Community lost to North Florida Christian 48-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lonnie Marts III ran for 139 yards in the defeat.

Marts III provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Harvest Community lost to the Eagles. Marts III's key target this week was Bradley Bellingrath, who caught 2 passes for 93 yards.

Cody Vining was a key player and the best on defense this week as Lonnie Marts' team fell to North Florida Christian. He grabbed 1 interception.

Bellingrath was the best wideout in the league this week as the Warriors lost to Robert Craft's team. Bellingrath racked up 2 receptions for 93 yards. Gavin Marts helped Harvest Community's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 20 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Cedar Creek Christian's Terence Sapp and Jay Irvine have proven to be a lethal combination. Sapp has thrown for 1,303 yards this season, while Irvine has 38 catches for 909 yards. Marts III from Harvest Community leads the league in rushing with 1,416 yards.

So far this year, he has garnered 38 catches for 909 yards.

The Warriors made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,781 from 10,125. The improvement was largely due to a 48-21 victory over Harvest Community last week.
