Basketball Recap: Isabella Canizalez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mission Veterans Memorial over Cigarroa

Mission Veterans Memorial lost against Cigarroa back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots fell 42-35 to the Cigarroa Toros.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isabella Canizalez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 rebounds. Canizalez is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Sarah Barrientos was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 14 points.

Even though they lost, Mission Veterans Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Mission Veterans Memorial has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-15 record this season. As for Cigarroa, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-14.
