Soccer Game Preview: Richlands vs. West Carteret

The Richlands Wildcats will head out to take on the West Carteret Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richlands is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Richlands is coming into the game fresh off a high-scoring shootout with Dixon that saw the pair combine for 23 shots on goal. The Wildcats fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Richlands can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Dixon are ranked 19th).

Abigail Proffitt and Kamrey Watkins scored both of Richlands' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Meanwhile, West Carteret kept a clean sheet against Croatan last Thursday. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 2-0. Graysen Fredeen had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble West Carteret got from the refs.

Richlands now has a losing record of 9-10-1. As for West Carteret, their win bumped their record up to 6-8-3.

Everything went Richlands' way against West Carteret in their previous meeting on April 3rd, as Richlands made off with an 8-1 victory. In that contest, the Wildcats amassed a halftime lead of 3-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
