Softball Recap: Cambria Heights Drops Highest Score of Season Against United

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cambria Heights). Everything went their way against the United Lions on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-2 win. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Alyssa Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Cambria Heights let Ellie Bender and Hallie Hayes run wild. Bender went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Hayes scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave Bender a new career-high. Lakin Pierce was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Cambria Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cambria Heights now has a winning record of 4-3. As for United, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cambria Heights beat the Lions by a score of 17-0 later that day.
