Recap: Tilden Blue Devils vs. Excel Academy of South Shore Broncos

The Tilden Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 57-43 bruising from Excel Academy of South Shore.

When it comes to explaining why Tilden lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darius Harding. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harding has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Bailon, who scored 15 points.

Excel Academy of South Shore's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyrone Campbell, who scored 11 points along with eight steals. Kenard Mason was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.

Tilden has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Excel Academy of South Shore, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Tilden won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Uplift at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Hopefully Tilden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday. Excel Academy of South Shore is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Corliss at 5:00 p.m. on February 7th.
