Softball Recap: Lucas Christian Academy Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Lucas Christian Academy was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over the Ovilla Christian Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Chloe Robinson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and 11 unearned) runs off six hits. Robinson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Gabi Carrera and Elle Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Carrera got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs, while Elle got on base in all six of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave Carrera a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyla Gautreaux, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.

Lucas Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .766. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Lucas Christian Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Ovilla Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Lucas Christian Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against First Baptist at 6:30 p.m. on April 4. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up.
