Soccer Game Preview: Gretna vs. Scotus

Gretna has gone a perfect 3-0 against Scotus recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Dragons will look to defend their home pitch against the Shamrocks at 7:00 p.m. Gretna's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Scotus' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Gretna is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against South Sioux City on Thursday. The Dragons fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 1-0. The loss was Gretna's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Scotus faced The Platte in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Shamrocks put the hurt on The Platte with a sharp 5-1 win. The result was nothing new for Scotus, who have now won three contests by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit The Platte with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Maclain Bailey (2), Calan Windedahl, Andy Padilla, and Peter Faltys.

Having lost for the first time this season, Gretna fell to 4-1. As for Scotus, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

Gretna was able to grind out a solid win over Scotus when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 3-1. Will the Dragons repeat their success, or do the Shamrocks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
