Preview: Laguna Beach Breakers vs. Irvine Vaqueros

Laguna Beach is 4-0 against Irvine since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Laguna Beach Breakers will get right back to it and host the Irvine Vaqueros at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Laguna Beach's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Clemente. While losing is never fun, Laguna Beach can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while San Clemente is ranked 63rd).

Meanwhile, Irvine blew past Heritage, posting a 71-39 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Irvine has managed all season.

Laguna Beach has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Irvine, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Laguna Beach strolled past Irvine in their previous matchup back in December of 2017 by a score of 58-44. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Irvine's Josh Alcindor, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be that much easier for Laguna Beach to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
