Football Recap: Hayden Tigers vs. West Grand Mustangs
After flying high against Vail Christian last Saturday, Hayden came back down to earth. The match between the Hayden Tigers and the West Grand Mustangs wasn't particularly close, with the Hayden Tigers falling 46-32. The Tigers lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in October of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 40-0 score last time.
Hayden lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Peyton Johnson, who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 83 yards. Johnson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 62 yards. Another player making a difference was Carson Campbell, who picked up 218 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Hayden wouldn't let West Grand keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Hayden can thank Campbell and John Bene for forcing both of them.
Blake Terryberry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Grand, rushing for 109 yards and five touchdowns, while also throwing for 206 yards on only 19 passes. That's the most rushing yards Terryberry has posted since back in September of 2023. A healthy portion of Terryberry's aerial production (123 yards to be exact) went to Joe Probst.
Hayden now has a losing record at 4-5. As for West Grand, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
As of now, neither Hayden nor West Grand have any future games scheduled.
