Basketball Recap: Black River Takes a Loss

Black River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Columbia Raiders, falling 67-10. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-9.

Columbia found their leader in freshman Natalie Miller, who went 9 of 15 en route to 18 points and six steals. Another player making a difference was Bree Heidecker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Black River's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Columbia, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black River will welcome Keystone at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keystone will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Black River surely won't give up without a fight. As for Columbia, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Wellington at 12:30 p.m. One thing working in Columbia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
