C.J. Leslie has added Connecticut back to his list and dropped Florida. The Huskies’ staff met with him and his family earlier this week and will have him on campus this weekend, while the Gators’ staff took two other frontcourt commitments in Cody Larson and Will Yeguette. Connecticut, Kentucky and North Carolina State are the three schools he’ll choose from.
Terrence Jones had an announcement date hoped to be either April 23 or April 30, and it will look to happen a week from today with Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA and Washington his finalists. Teammate Terrence Ross is also slated to announce and is expected to visit Washington before doing so.
With our focus shifting to highlighting the 2011 class, we’ll finish out with the 2010 class next week by recapping the Spring Signing Period and then pointing to the Basketball Recruiting Blog for any further movement by the outgoing seniors.
WEEKLY WRAP
It’s been a big week for Kentucky, hitting the 2011 class with Michael Gilchrist a week prior and now Marquis Teague on Thursday.
Cincinnati also got on the board with
Kristian Smith (6-5 F/Indianapolis, Ind./Pike), who is originally a 2010 member but will head to prep school next year. He had interest from IUPUI and Morehead State, and alongside Teague, the two helped lead Pike to the sectional championship game.
Florida State is on the board with
Terry Whisnant (6-3 G/Cherryville, N.C./Cherryville), a shooter who chose the Seminoles upon being offered a scholarship. He helped his team to the sectional final and had interest from George Mason, Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth and a host of locals.
And in an early verbal from the 2012 class,
Zach Peters (6-9 F/Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) made his decision with a press conference at school that saw him choose Kansas. He helped lead his team to the TAPPS 5A state title and picked the Jayhawks over Kentucky, North Carolina and Texas.
