Baseball Recap: Overton Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

After losing to Greenbrier the last time they met, Overton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Overton walked away with a 4-1 win over Greenbrier on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Overton as they're now sitting on three straight.

Justin Schwarz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peter Weber, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Jackson Bennett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Overton's record now sits at 4-2. As for Greenbrier, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Overton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Franklin on the 20th. As for Greenbrier, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on White House at 6:30 p.m. on the 24th.
