Softball Recap: Florence Find Success

Florence took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Blue Ridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Gophers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Yellow Jackets 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Gophers considering their two-run performance the game before.

The team relied heavily on Alessandra Felix, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jocelyn Burris was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Florence's record is now 4-11. As for Blue Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Florence will face off against Apache Junction at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gophers are facing the Prospectors at the right time seeing as the Prospectors are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Blue Ridge, they will take on Holbrook at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
