Softball Game Preview: White Pine Bobcats vs. Laughlin Cougars

White Pine has gone a perfect 10-0 against Laughlin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

White Pine barely beat Awaken Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats blew past the Lions 7-1 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bobcats sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Gianna Sedlacek was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cecilia Barbosa, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Brenley Skadburg also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Laughlin got the win against Beaver Dam on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-3. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Diamondback recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

White Pine pushed their record up to 9-9 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Laughlin, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Everything went White Pine's way against Laughlin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as White Pine made off with a 14-2 victory. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
