Baseball Game Preview: Hiawatha Red Hawks vs. Perry-Lecompton Kaws

Hiawatha is 2-7 against Perry-Lecompton since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Kaws. The last three games Hiawatha has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Thursday, Hiawatha didn't have quite enough to beat Sabetha and fell 2-1.

Perry-Lecompton hadn't beaten Nemaha Central on the road since May 4, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them last Thursday. The Kaws came out on top against the Thunder by a score of 14-9.

Perry-Lecompton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hiawatha, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

Hiawatha came up short against Perry-Lecompton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Red Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
