Baseball Recap: Franklin Community Find Success

Franklin Community won the last time they faced Whiteland and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Grizzly Cubs came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzly Cubs.

Greyson Betts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has become a key player for Franklin Community: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Landen Basey, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Owen Bullington was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Franklin Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Franklin Community's record now sits at 7-4. As for Whiteland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Community will venture away from home to square off against Columbus East at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whiteland, they will head out to challenge Shelbyville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Bears have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
