Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chinle). Everything went their way against the Monument Valley Mustangs on Monday as the Chinle Wildcats made off with a 14-0 win. The Wildcats not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024.

Duane Ayze and Covington Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ayze struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Jones pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Ayze scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Jones scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Ayze a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Hage Tsosie was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shane Jones, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Chinle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monument Valley only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory got Chinle back to even at 3-3. As for Monument Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Chinle will face off against Window Rock at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monument Valley, they will square off against Page at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
