Basketball Recap: Hickory Flat's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Ashland on Tuesday, Hickory Flat came back down to earth. The Rebels received a blow on Thursday as they fell 54-40 to the Smithville Seminoles. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 55-49 to the Seminoles when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hickory Flat's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. As for Smithville, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Hickory Flat won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Tupelo Christian Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Smithville, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Jumpertown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Seminoles will be up against the Cardinals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.63 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
