Vela hadn't done well against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Sabercats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Sabercats: when they faced off against the Raiders back in February, they had to take a 7-2 loss.

The win made it two in a row for Vela and bumps their season record up to 13-8. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 14-11 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.4% over those games). As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-12-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Vela will face off against rival McAllen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North is set to square off against their familiar foe Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
