Volleyball Recap: California Starts Season with Win Against Clayton Valley Charter

California had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles 3-0 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Ugly Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

California walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-10, 25-17.

California's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maggie Bolton, who had four aces.

Bolton wasn't the only good server: California was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2024.

California didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Mt. Eden on the 28th. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Freedom on the 29th.
