Davis Watson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Watson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Juan Rameriz, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Quitman's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Tioga, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Quitman will face off against Newton at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tioga, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-5 tie against Commerce on the 27th.
