Sevier County entered their tilt with Jefferson County on Friday with 16 consecutive wins dating back to last season, and they'll enter their next game with 17. They breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 41-7. That's more bragging rights for the Smoky Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sevier County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Newman, who threw for 264 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes. Bryson Headrick was in the mix too, providing the Smoky Bears with one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sevier County proved: they limited Jefferson County to a paltry 2.4 yards per carry. While three picked up at least nine total tackles, Jaxson Perry stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss). Sevier County didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.

Sevier County's defense also made the game a nightmare for Mason Henderson., racking up seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Preston Huskey and Graven Wilson, who racked up four sacks between them. Sevier County received some extra help from Headrick, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Sevier County's record is now 2-0. As for Jefferson County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Sevier County will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Daniel Boone at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th. As for Jefferson County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Morristown-Hamblen West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
