Volleyball Recap: Lakewood Ranch Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

If Manatee wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Lakewood Ranch, they should've done a better job of containing Mariana Alvarez. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 3-0 victory on Tuesday with plenty of help from Alvarez, who had 13 digs and three assists. Alvarez is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

While Lakewood Ranch won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-14, 25-19.

The win made it two in a row for Lakewood Ranch and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Manatee, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakewood Ranch will challenge Riverview Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manatee, they will face off against Booker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
