Baseball Game Preview: Lowell Red Devils vs. Hammond Morton Governors

The Lowell Red Devils will challenge the Hammond Morton Governors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lowell is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Lowell came up short against Hobart and fell 9-6.

Meanwhile, Hammond Morton earned a 12-7 victory over Hammond Central on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Governors in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won four in a row.

The team relied heavily on Marcellous McQuay, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate George, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Hammond Morton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are 10-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hammond Morton pushed their record up to 11-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Lowell, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15-1.
