Basketball Game Preview: University Prep Pumas vs. Overlake Owls

University Prep hasn't had much luck against Overlake recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The University Prep Pumas will challenge the Overlake Owls at 5:30 p.m. Overlake took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on University Prep, who comes in off a win.

University Prep is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight victories. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 win over Bear Creek on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Overlake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 40-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Whidbey.

Overlake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for University Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season.

University Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Overlake in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 43-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for University Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
