Basketball Recap: Mars Hill Academy Comes Up Short

Mars Hill Academy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-9. They took a blow against the CHESS Christian Royals, falling 67-18. The matchup marked Mars Hill Academy's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

As for CHESS Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.

Silas Kempe had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 71% from the field on his way to 14 points and six steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Brooks, who posted five points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.

Coincidentally, Mars Hill Academy and CHESS Christian will both be playing Spring Valley Academy the next time they take the court. Mars Hill Academy will host Spring Valley Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while CHESS Christian will head out to face them at 8:45 p.m. on February 7.
