Basketball Game Preview: Edinburg Bobcats vs. Harvest Christian

The Edinburg Bobcats will challenge Harvest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harvest Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Edinburg, who comes in off a win.

Harvest Christian is hoping to do what Veterans Memorial couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Edinburg's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Edinburg snuck past Veterans Memorial with a 40-35 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bobcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while the Chargers are ranked 109th).

Edinburg got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makayla Olvera out in front who posted two points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Olvera a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Trevino, who earned nine points and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Harvest Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harlingen.

Edinburg pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Harvest Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.

Edinburg didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Harvest Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 66-60 win.
