Softball Recap: Shepherd Has No Trouble Against Alma

Shepherd barely beat Alma the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bluejays blew past the Panthers 13-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Bluejays have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Shepherd got a big performance out of Leela Engelhardt, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Engelhardt has posted over her last three contests. Another player making a difference was Morgan Bloniarczyk, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Shepherd always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Shepherd is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Alma, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Shepherd does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alma, they will challenge Reed City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
