Basketball Game Preview: White Oak Vikings vs. D.H. Conley Vikings

White Oak is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome D.H. Conley at 5:30 p.m.

On Thursday, White Oak lost to Croatan at home by a 48-34 margin. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, White Oak had strong showings from Sidney Ferguson, who posted 12 points, and Aariel Jemison, who put up 13 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaniya Milton, who earned seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask D.H. Conley). They came out on top against Hunt by a score of 57-50 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won eight in a row.

White Oak better keep an eye on Charlazha Wilson. She was instrumental in D.H. Conley's win, shooting 43% from the field to rack up 41 points along with six boards and three steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Wilson has scored at least a third of the Vikings' points. Another player making a difference was Ava Johnson, who had nine points and seven rebounds.

D.H. Conley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

D.H. Conley's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for White Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
