League recap: Rathbone breaks off league-leading run for Porter Ridge

4A/3A Southern Carolina recap Oct. 9, 2012

Porter Ridge's Chris Rathbone rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A/3A Southern Carolina this season in his game against Parkwood last week. Rathbone ran for 87 yards on the play and finished with 96 on the day as his team bested the Rebels.

Porter Ridge extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Parkwood, 69-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for Blair Hardin's team.

The Pirates' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Vagnone threw for 84 and one touchdown and Isaiah Duffy had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Chris Duffy chipped in 165 yards. Luke Bayly helped Porter Ridge's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.

Bunyon Tyson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Anson lost to Weddington. He completed 12 passes for 125 yards and also ran for 62 yards. Tyson's favorite target this week was Allen Campbell, who caught seven passes for 54 yards.

The Rebels' Grey Wyrick and Sam Mobley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wyrick has thrown for 979 yards this season, while Mobley, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 31 catches for 568 yards. Porter Ridge's Duffy leads the league in rushing yards with 894.

The Pirates took down Parkwood 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Duffy in the win.
