Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Orem Tigers

The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The matchup between Maple Mountain and Orem wasn't particularly close, with Maple Mountain falling 68-54. Maple Mountain was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Orem apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.

Maple Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brogan Miles, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Merrell, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.

Orem's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chance Dastrup, who scored ten points along with nine assists and two steals. Dastrup hasn't dropped below eight assists for three straight games. Kai Wesley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Maple Mountain now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Orem, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Maple Mountain will be playing in front of their home fans against Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Springville is ranked 38th, while Maple Mountain is ranked 50th). As for Orem, they will head out on the road to face off against Timpview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Timpview has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 581 points over their last nine games.
