Recap: Jefferson Dragons vs. Gaither Cowboys
The Jefferson Dragons suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Gaither at home and fell 71-41. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson in their matchups with Gaither: they've now lost six in a row.
Gaither's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayce Humphries led the charge by scoring 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marc Fransberg, who scored 14 points.
Jefferson bumped their record down to 6-13 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Gaither, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Jefferson will be playing in front of their home fans against Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Middleton has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6. As for Gaither, they will head out on the road to face off against Chamberlain at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Chamberlain is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
