Meanwhile, Pahrump Valley faced Sports Leadership & Management in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Pahrump Valley had just enough and edged out Sports Leadership & Management 10-9. Pahrump Valley's win was all the more impressive since the Bulls were averaging only 2.45 runs allowed on the season.
Kayla Glenn made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Glenn was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Riley Saldana was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Autumn Colon, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Pahrump Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Pahrump Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. Del Sol's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Del Sol has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .577. However, it's not like Pahrump Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
