Softball Game Preview: Gaither Cowboys vs. Freedom Patriots

The Gaither Cowboys will take on the Freedom Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Wharton hit Gaither with a eight-run fourth inning last Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cowboys took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carolyn Emanuel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three runs and three doubles. Another player making a difference was Jada Quintero, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Freedom rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Falcons as they made off with a 16-8 victory. Surprisingly, this marked the Patriots' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Gaither's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Freedom, their win bumped their record up to 4-16.

Everything went Gaither's way against Freedom when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Gaither made off with a 20-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cowboys since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
