Football Game Preview: Lumpkin County Indians vs. Dawson County Tigers + Official Tickets

Lumpkin County is 2-8 against Dawson County since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Indians will host the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Nolan Matthews and Cody Mcbrayer.

Lumpkin County had been on a five-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but North Hall put an end to it on Friday. The Indians came up short against the Trojans, falling 35-12. The game marked the Indians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Although Lumpkin County took the loss, they still got scores from Martin Hulsey and Matthews.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dawson County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Chestatee 42-14.

Dawson County's win came from a few key players Lumpkin County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brody Sorensen, who threw for 190 yards and one touchdown on only 18 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 190 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Dylan Edwards was Sorensen's top target, picking up 91 receiving yards and one TD.

Dawson County's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Lumpkin County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Lumpkin County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 234.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Dawson County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 147.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Everything went Lumpkin County's way against Dawson County in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Lumpkin County made off with a 38-14 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
