Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

The Liberty Patriots came up short against the Jefferson Raiders on Saturday and fell 5-1.

Parker Heeter was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Jackson Bell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Liberty has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Jefferson, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.

Coming up, Liberty will host Bellevue at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to face off against Enumclaw at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
